Dwarf Costume Guide

Before attending Fayhaven, all garb, armor, weapons, and gear must be staff-approved. This can be done by sending in pictures via email (contact@fayhavenlarp.com). Pictures can be of the whole kit or of individual items. We encourage players to submit their plans for homemade or commissioned items before investing in them, to be sure that they match the garb requirements.

Aesthetic Influences

The Dwarvish people are craftsmen, and their clothing reflects an eye for both function and beauty.  To mirror the stout stature of the Dwarven people, Dwarven clothing should emphasize horizontal magnitude and geographic shapes. Heavy surcoats, baggy trousers and skirts, thick furs, puffed sleeves, and opulent patterns all exemplify this grandiose style. Many Dwarves are workers and tradespeople. Working class Dwarves may wear simpler ensembles of tunics and Rus-style pants or petticoats, while nobility are more likely to be seen in doublets, coats, furs, and puffed or slashed sleeves. All Dwarves are interested in ornamentation and the inclusion of intricate handiwork. Many incorporate elaborate hairstyles as a part of their fashion. Dwarven garb can be viewed as an often lavish marriage between traditional Rus garb and 15th-16th century Renaissance clothing.
