Human Costume Guide

Before attending Fayhaven, all garb, armor, weapons, and gear must be staff-approved. This can be done by sending in pictures via email (contact@fayhavenlarp.com). Pictures can be of the whole kit or of individual items. We encourage players to submit their plans for homemade or commissioned items before investing in them, to be sure that they match the garb requirements.

Aesthetic Influences

Humans are a humble and hardworking people, and their clothing reflects the salt-of-the-earth characteristics of their culture. Human clothing is functional, and ornamentation is rare. Due to their history, many of the surviving Humans face poverty and vagrancy. Thus, Humans largely wear simple clothing in muted, inconspicuous colors. Colorful or more elaborate clothing is only seen amongst the wealthiest of Humans, who are few and far between. Cotton shirts and chemises are often layered with leather belts, wool or cotton vests and bodices, and canvas trousers and skirts. Many Humans work in manual labor or indispensable service positions, and so the tools of these trades are often seen on their person, whether that be a blacksmith’s apron, a woodsman’s axe, or an apothecary’s kit. Human clothing is an amalgamation of 15th century peasant clothing, with utilitarian and fantasy flairs. For more aesthetic guidance and inspiration, check out our Human Pinterest board.
